Lake Tapps Lacrosse Club Announces 2017 Fall Season

Lake Tapps Lacrosse Club Announces 2017 Fall Season

Six Week Season Runs on Sunday’s Sept 24 - Oct 29

Dates:   Sunday’s  Sept 24, Oct 1,8, 15, 22, 29
Time:   10am-12pm
Location: Lakeridge Middle School
Cost:  $60 for the entire season

LTLC Fall Ball is an “informal” season for returning LTLC boys & girls lacrosse players designed to further develop individual and team skills in preparation for the upcoming spring season.

All returning LTLC players currently enrolled in grades 4-8 are encouraged to register.

LTLC will host two boys teams and two girls teams.  Grades 4/5/6 will be combined and grades  7/8 will be combined.

Practices will be designed to incorporate:

  1. Individual skill development
  2. Team concepts (offense / defense / transition)
  3. Controlled (internal) and live-game scrimmages

In addition…While our league (South Sound Lacrosse League) does not have a formal program for fall ball, we will be working with other teams in our league and in other leagues to organize formal scrimmages for our fall ball teams.

Why is this for returning players only?  Great question!  For starters, we have new players clinics scheduled throughout the fall .  We are working hard to introduce this sport to EVERYONE!  New player clinics are designed to ease new recruits into the game. Specifically, we need to teach them the basics before we introduce them to the full-speed of the game. Fall ball practices will mirror regular spring club practices with a lead up to full-contact controlled scrimmages and also game situation scrimmages with other clubs.

So the season has started and I missed early sign-ups. Can I still play?  Yes!  If you are a returning player, you can come out at any time.  Please note that the registration fee is the same regardless, but we can sign you up at any of our workouts and work you right in with the team!

Why don’t we have 3 teams each for boys and girls?  As we are only taking returning players, there really are no (or very few) returners at the 3rd-grade level to create a traditional 3 / 4 team.  As such we are going to work the 4th graders in with the 5/6 group.  Our coaches will be mindful of age differences, skill level and physical maturity.

My current third grader played last year…can they play fall ball?   We discussed this as a board and agreed that a current 3rd grader playing in a physical environment with 6th graders is really a stretch.  However, we do encourage you to bring your 3rd grader, even if a returning player, coming to our new player clinics to get some stick work in.

Who will be coaching?  Each one of our four teams will have a dedicated LTLC coach and assistants just like the regular season.

Will there be conditioning?  We aren’t going to dedicate a lot of time to conditioning.  That said, we will keep a brisk pace in practices with plenty of time for scrimmaging!

Why did you pick Sunday for workouts?  We realize no day works for everyone…so we tried to find something we hoped would work for most.  Field space is a major issue…and many lacrosse players are involved with fall sports.  Technically, we are out of season so we get the hand me downs.  Sunday mornings created the least amount of conflict with other sports and also with field space.  AND…we looked at the Seahawk schedule and are doing our best to get everyone home before kick-off!

What about gear rentals?  OK, so this is a tricky one.  LTLC doesn’t want to be in the business of renting gear for returning players.  We understand that most first-year players are “trying out” the sport to see if it is something they like and want to continue with.   In short, as all players are considered returners, we will NOT be renting gear for fall-ball. That said, we understand that there are certain cases where renting gear is the only option to get a player on the field.  Please contact our Director of Player Development (   ) and he will assist in any way he can to ensure your player doesn’t sit out because of equipment costs.

I have more questions…who should I contact?  Please contact Shane Gillispie, Director of Player Development by email:

LTLC Announces New Team Names and Logos for 2018 Season

As announced in our end-of-season annual meeting, LTLC is taking steps to reduce its overall geographic footprint by spinning off separate clubs that can focus and serve the school district and catchment areas in their community. Specifically, LTLC has been acting as a feeder program for many local school district Lacrosse teams.  For many years LTLC has served the Auburn,  Dieringer, Enumclaw, White River and the Sumner - Bonney Lake school districts. Of note,  Auburn just spun off from LTLC to form its own club, and LTLC has a goal of creating additional clubs to represent Dieringer, Enumclaw/White River and Sumner/Bonney Lake.  While these transitions take place, LTLC’s traditional areas North, South & East will be renamed as follows:

NORTH (Dieringer) becomes:   Bulldogs Lacrosse

EAST (Enumclaw/White River) becomes: Hornets Lacrosse

SOUTH (Sumner/Bonney Lake) remains: Titans Lacrosse

Of note, LTLC Girls Lacrosse will continue to draw from LTLC’s current boundary areas and will remain the LTLC Titans until it has the registration numbers needed to gradually separate into its local school district boundaries.

While this transition is new to all of us, it is amazing the impact that LTLC has had in our area since its relatively new conception. The sport of Lacrosse has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years and will continue to grow at a breakneck pace.  LTLC is proud of its legacy in these communities and looks forward to supporting Lacrosse in our communities throughout any transitions the future may hold!

LTLC has developed new Logos, uniforms and spirit wear for each of these programs that will be introduced at FACE OF DAY 2018!
